Shawn Lawrence, Principal

Shawn is a practicing Architect in both Ontario and Nova Scotia, with degrees from Ryerson University as well as the Technical University of Nova Scotia. In 1993, Shawn founded the company S.J. Lawrence Architect Inc. and has acted as Principal Architect and owner since that time. Throughout his 29 years of architectural experience in Ottawa, Shawn has been involved in over 700 projects ranging from tenant fit-ups and custom homes to large commercial, institutional and residential condominiums; though he is often recognized for his specialty in retirement buildings.
As a licensed member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA) and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), Shawn remains active in the Architecture community. For the past six years, Shawn has also served as housing judge for the Greater Ottawa Home Builders' Association.
Shawn is committed to providing quality work and design to his clients at all levels of the project from initial design concept, to construction administration, to co-ordination of consultants and communication with governing municipalities. Throughout his career, Shawn has adhered to this core set of values and quality commitment and continues to provide a high level of service to his clients each and every day.
Amanda Lawrence, Architect

Since graduating with her Master’s Degree in Architecture from Carleton University in 2012, Amanda has continued her professional practice working on a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and recreational projects. Since joining S.J. Lawrence Architect Inc. in 2008, Amanda has gained an extensive knowledge of project concept, design and development including site analysis and coordination with planners and zoning regulations. She has exceptional experience working closely with the client and is qualified in securing building plan approvals from building officials, code interpretation and leading multi-discipline project teams in the production of contract documents for various building types. Throughout her education and career, Amanda has gained recognition for her achievements with a Cyril Leadership Award as well as a Stantec Architecture Prize for Excellence. Amanda is also a registered member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and is certified by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board.
Brandon Lawrence, Architect
B.AS, M.Arch, OAA, MRAIC
Brandon is an OAA licensed Architect with experience in design and development of construction documents for diverse building types. Brandon graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture. As a highly motivated and ambitious individual, Brandon has proven success in academics and overall achievement with the James W. Strutt Geometric Principle Award as well as being published in Building 22. Since joining the SJL team in 2014, Brandon has been involved in the design and production of numerous residential, institutional, commercial, and mixed-use projects. Brandon’s range of experience covers all project phases including preliminary design, schematic design, design development, research and application of the Ontario Building Code, preparation of construction documents, and contract administration. His range skills include AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Brandon’s professional work ethic and attention to detail ensure that every project he works on runs efficiently and is executed with precision.
Monique Lawrence, Office & Accounts Manager
As the office and accounts manager, Monique is responsible for organizing and overseeing all administrative activity, including bookkeeping and payroll services. Monique plays a vital role in the management and smooth running of the business.
